With reference to our letter of the 20th February 1929

I have the honour to transmit for the information of the

Secretary of State, a valuation of the security held by us

as cover for the note issue of the Mercantile Bank of India

Ltd. in Hong Kong, together with copies of letters received

from the bank stating the face value of the notes in

circulation on the 1st January 1930.

It will be observed that the valuation shows an

excess of £73,732 over the amount of security required.
